The photo on the left shows Sea Scout alongside the training ship HMS Worcester in 1959. I was a cadet on board her at the time and there was great excitement when Sea Scout arrived, commanded by an Old Boy of the ship. later as an RNR / P&O deck officer, I volunteered for submarines and served in Otus and valiant. We cremated an old boy last month (jan2023) who served on Sea Scout when she was new. He had talked a little of entering Hong Kong to take the surrender of the Japanese there and the terrible conditions they found when they went ashore. Timothy Whittingham Thu, 16 Feb 2023 |
