This website is brought to you in association with the Barrow-in-Furness Branch of the Submariners Association and is the premier UK internet resource for Submariners and anyone interested in Royal Navy Submarines.

Vickers and Barrow are names synonymous with the development of the submarine. Hundreds of submarines covering virtually every class have been built for the Royal Navy and foreign Navies. This site is dedicated to not only to those who have served on Her Majesty's Submarines but also to those employees past and present whose skills and efforts have given pride to the phrase 'Barrow built' and made the name Vickers known and respected throughout the world.

1943 Sickle (P 224) HMS Sickle torpedoes and sinks the German auxiliary submarine chaser UJ-2213/Heureux south of Nice, southern France.
1943 Rorqual (N 74) HMS Rorqual lays 50 mines off Punta Stilo, Calabria, Italy.
1943 Verve (P 28) Laid Down
1944 Ultor (P 53) HMS Ultor attacks and damages a French fishing vessel with gunfire off Cape Camarat, southern France.
1944 Upshot (P 82) Completed
1945 Statesman (P 246) HMS Statesman sinks a Japanese coaster with gunfire in the Strait of Malacca.
1945 Tiptoe (P 332) HMS Tiptoe sinks a Japanese coaster with gunfire of Sumbawa Island, Netherlands East Indies.
1945 Clyde (N 12) HMS Clyde sinks a Japanese sailing vessel with gunfire of the west coast of Siam.
1960 Otter (S 15) Launched by Scotts Shipbuilding and Engineering Company
1968 Courageous (S 50) Laid Down

The Bell of HM S/M Vivid is currently in the possession of HMS Vivid the RNR unit in Plymouth. it was presented to the then Headquarters\' unit in 1957/8 by Lt J C Varley the boats first commanding officer.
