16-08-1942 : HMS Safari damages a sailing vessel with gunfire east of Sardinia.
17-08-1942 : HMS Safari sinks the Italian sailing vessel Ausonia with gunfire 11 nautical miles bearing 180 from Orosei, Sardinia.
18-08-1942 : HMS Safari torpedoes and sinks the Italian merchant Perseo near Cape Carbonara, 15 nautical miles south of Serpentara, Sardinia and later attacked the Italian submarine Bronzo.

My father was helmsman on his safari and we have his diary entries for 1942/3 which match the entries above. He was awarded the DSM.
