Commanders
1946: Lieutenant  James Newenham Elliott

So far she has been the only boat of the Royal Navy to bear the name Tabard, after the item of clothing.

One of the last pair of eight T Class submarines cut in half and extended for conversion as a fast battery submarine, an important member of the RN Submarine Fleet in the sixties. Notable for having the conning positon atop of the fin unlike the other conversions where there was a low set cab in front of the fin that was not a success in heavy weather.

InFebruary 1964 she underwent exercises with HMAS Melbourne and HMAS Voyager. When she returned to the UK, she became the static training submarine at the HMS Dolphin shore establishment, until 1974 when she was sold and broken up.
