1940 Thames (N 71) Cdr Denis Vaughan Sprague, RN, the Commanding Officer of Thames died at Devonport.

In the early hours of Wednesday 3rd July 1940, all French Naval vessels at Plymouth were taken into Royal Navy control. The crew of the French Submarine Surcouf resisted the takeover and in the confusion, the Commander was shot, and he died later in hospital.

1943 Unseen (P 51) While on patrol off Cape Rizzuto, Calabria, Italy, HMS Unseen fires four torpedoes against what is identified as an Italian Regolo-class light cruiser. All torpedoes missed.
1944 Sturdy (P 248) HMS Sturdy sinks two Japanese tugboats and three barges with gunfire off the west coast of Siam.
1944 Vox (P 73) HMS Vox torpedoes and sinks a German sailing vessel off Santorini Island, Greece.
2014 Ambush (S 120) HMS Ambush left Faslane on July 4 to sail across the Equator to visit Rio de Janeiro in Brazil before heading for the North Atlantic and the United States.
