1914 WWI Britain declares war on Germany and Austro-Hungary after Austria declares war on Serbia, beginning the First World War. Britain's declaration automatically includes Canada, as part of the British Empire
1940 Swordfish (N 61) HMS Swordfish comes across the Norwegian yacht Maski in the North Sea. The four Norwegians aboard the yacht were trying to flee to the United Kingdom. After the Norwegians were taken aboard and the Maski was sunk with gunfire.
1940 O 22 (Dutch) Attached to the 9th flotilla at Dundee and is now under British operational control.
1941 Upholder (N 99) While on patrol near Marettimo island, off the western tip of Sicily HMS Upholder fired 4 torpedoes at an Italian task force, damaging the light cruiser Giuseppe Garibaldi.
1941 Utmost (N 19) HMS Utmost torpedoes and sinks the Italian merchant Frederico C. in the southern Tyrrhenian Sea of the west coast of Calabria, Italy.
1941 Olympus (N 35) HMS Olympus torpedoes and sinks the Italian merchant Monteponi about 10 nautical miles north of Cape Comino, Sardinia, Italy.
1942 Traveller (N 48) While in transit through the Otranto Straits to her patrol area HMS Traveller is detected on the surface by an Italian destroyer. Traveller dived and a few depth charges were dropped but these inflicted no damage.

Later on the same day she attacks the Italian merchant Ezilda Croce, on passage from Bari to Valona, in the Otranto Strait. The torpedoes fired however miss their target. An escorting aircraft dropped bombs on the submarine.

1943 Unseen (P 51) HMS Unseen sinks the Italian sailing vessel Fabiola with gunfire and scuttling charges 3 nautical miles bearing 250 of Saseno Island, Albania.
1944 Upstart (P 65) HMS Upstart fires four torpedoes against the Italian merchant Pascoli south-east of Cape Cepet, southern France. The torpedoes miss.
1945 Stubborn (P 238) HMS Stubborn sinks a Japanese sailing vessel with gunfire in the eastern part of the Java Sea.
1945 Tudor (P 326) HMS Tudor sinks two Japanese coasters with gunfire in the Java Sea.
1978 Turbulent (S 87) Ordered from Vickers, Barrow
