1939 Wilk (N 64) (Dutch) German fishing boat MFK Pil 55 Heimat was sunk by a mine laid by Wilk on the 2nd of September.
1940 Sunfish (N 81) / V1 (USSR) HMS Sunfish torpedoes and damages the Norwegian merchant Dixie off Stadlandet, Norway.
1941 Pearl Harbour On the morning of 7th December 1941, the US Fleet suffered more damage in one hour than during the whole of the First World War, when Japanese aircraft bombed Pearl Harbour - the United States' largest naval base - and the airfields which were an essential part of its defences. The attack lasted from 7.55 am to 9.15 am, and initiated the Pacific Ocean as one of the war's major battlegrounds.

1944 Stygian (P 249) HMS Stygian sinks a Japanese vessel with gunfire in the Strait of Malacca.
1944 Sea Rover (P 218) HMS Sea Rover sinks a Japanese vessel with gunfire off Surabaya, Java, Netherlands East Indies.
