| 1940 | Dunkirk | Dunkirk town is held despite the shrinking of the perimeter. Evacuation at night results in 26,256 men evacuated. The last of the British troops are evacuated. There remain plenty of ships, but the 60,000 French troops have no evacuation orders. |
