| On 17th October 1940, HMS H49 (Lt. Richard Evelyn Coltart, DSC, RN) sailed from Harwich with orders to patrol off Texel, on the Dutch coast. On the following day, to the west of Texel in the Netherlands by H49 was depth charged by the German auxiliary submarine chasers UJ-116 and UJ-118. One survivor was picked up. He was L/Sto George William Oliver D/KX 77876, but the other 26 members of the crew were lost. | |
