| The youngest son of John and Jane MacIntosh. In the 1921 Census he was listed as an Office Boy living with his guardians at 12, May Street, Chorlton on Medlock. In the 1939 Register he was reported to be a Newspaper Salesman (canvasser) living at 33, Westwood Street. He is understood to have joined the Royal Navy, trained as a submariner and was drafted to Submarine HMS Supreme. It is understood that he died in the Withington Emergency Hospital, Manchester following a brain haemorrhage. |

In May 1947, consideration was given to converting existing T Class or Amphion Class submarines to high underwater speed
Hell-bent on starving the British into surrender, Hitlers U-Boats prowled the Atlantic in packs like hungry wolves sending ships, supplies and thousands of men to a watery grave. Stealthy and undetected, the German submarines of WW2 were unparalleled in the ability of sneak attack.
Their goal was to destroy merchant shipping bound for the British Isles with essential supplies, and bring the country to the brink of starvation and total collapse allowing an easy Nazi invasion.
