Hector Munro was the only son of the four children of Sir Arthur Herman Munro, 14th Baronet of Fouis-Obsdale, Scotland and Violet Beatrice Powles.

He joined the Royal Navy, qualified as an Able Seaman (LTO) and served in Submarine HMS Vox. It is understood that he shot himself whilst HMS Vox was at Sydney, Australia 'whilst the balance of his mind was disturbed'.

It is understood that had he lived he would have become Sir Hector Munro, 15th Baron Munro of Foulis-Obsdale.

01-08-1944  HMS Vox claims the sinking of a sailing vessel with gunfire south of Santorini Island, Greece.
03-08-1944  HMS Vox fires two torpedoes at an enemy auxiliary patrol vessel south of Santorini Island, Greece. Both torpedoes miss.
04-08-1944  HMS Vox torpedoes and sinks a German guardboat and the German sailing vessels Thetis and SA 83 north of Iraklion, Crete.
09-08-1944  HMS Vox claims to have damaged a small German merchant with gunfire off Candia, Crete, Greece.
31-08-1944  HMS Vox sinks a sailing vessel with gunfire off Crete.
24-09-1944  HMS Vox sinks a sailing vessel with gunfire about 15 nautical miles south of the Kassandra Peninsula, Greece.
25-09-1944  HMS Vox sinks the Greek sailing vessel Vol with gunfire about 12 nautical miles south-east of Ayiokambos, Larisis, Greece.
